HOMESCHOOL FIELD TRIP INFORMATION

FLYIN’ FUN!
Grades: K – 3rd
Ages: 5 – 8
Students discover how people learned to fly! Students start by examining different creatures that fly, learn about the basic forces of flight, and then get hands-on with a plane.
YOUNG AVIATORS
Grades: K – 3rd
Ages: 5 – 8
Students explore the science and history of flight! Students experiment with the four forces of flight, plane surface control parts, people that contributed to the development of flight, and there is a cockpit climb-in!
ALL ABOUT ECLIPSES
Grades: 3rd – 6th
Ages: 8 – 12
Students will learn about changes in our solar system and explore the spectacular phenomenon of eclipses.
YOUNG ENGINEERS
Grades: 3rd – 6th
Ages: 8 – 12
Students will learn about the engineering process and apply those concepts to experiments!
SALVAGE FOR VICTORY

Students will learn all about the campaign that asked all Americans to do their part in supporting the WWII war effort by collecting, saving, conserving, and recycling materials that could be used for the military.
WEATHER INVESTIGATORS
Grades: 3rd – 6th
Ages: 8 – 12
Students will gain an understanding of basic weather science and safety, as well as some tools used at airport weather stations. Students will generate clouds, measure wind speed, and zone in on tornadoes with small groups that conduct hands-on demonstrations.
SCIENCE OF FLIGHT
Grades: 3rd – 8th
Ages: 8 – 14
Students investigate the science of flight. Students will explore and experiment with the four forces of flight and Bernoulli’s Principle. Students will also learn about the basic control surfaces of a plane and explore a plane.
SECRET MISSION: OPERATION CARPETBAGGER
Grades: 6th – 12th
Ages: 12 – 17
Students will learn about the secret mission that dropped spies and supplies to the resistance during WWII.
MILITARY MAPPING IN WWII
Grades: 6th – 12th
Ages: 12 – 17
Students will learn about cartography, the Army Map Service, and photo reconnaissance.
LIVING HISTORY OF WWII
Grades: 6th – 12th
Ages: 12 – 17
Students gain an unique insight and perspective of WWII by participating in interactive and role playing experiences. Students will decide to enlist in the armed forces or wait to be drafted and will explore the ramifications of these decisions as either a flight crew member or combat engineer. Students will NOT have the opportunity to experience both military paths. Students will learn about military life and also how WWII altered life on the Home Front.
RIGHTING A WRONG
Grades: 6th – 12th
Ages: 12 – 17
Students will examine the complicated history of the relocation of Japanese Americans during WWII. Students will be able to experience hands-on a typical home in a Japanese internment camp.
HISTORY OF FLIGHT
Grades: 6th – 12th
Ages: 12 – 17
Students will learn about the Wright Brothers’ contributions to flight and the significance Ohio played in aviation history. Model planes will illustrate the changes in design over time and there will be an overview of the history of flying inventions.
